County, Napa Chamber of Commerce to host contracting opportunities workshop

(NAPA, California) As part of the implementation of the Local Vendor Preference policies adopted by the Napa County Board of Supervisors on June 8, 2010, the County will partner with the Napa Chamber of Commerce to host a Contracting Opportunities Workshop for Professional Services Consultants and Contractors.

The workshop will be held at July 27, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Napa Chamber of Commerce, 1556 First Street in Napa.

The Board of Supervisors has expressed a commitment to active competition in the purchase of professional and other services, with a goal of selecting the best qualified firm(s) to provide services at the least cost to County taxpayers.  The Local Vendor Preference policies were designed to improve opportunities for local vendors to fully participate in the County’s contracting process and to encourage larger, out-of-County firms to partner with local firms.

The purpose of the July 27 workshop is to discuss projects anticipated for this fiscal year (July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011) with local businesses.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about specific project scope and anticipated timelines. Napa County Public Works and Conservation Development and Planning departments will be represented at the July 27event.  Other County departments and agencies will separately announce their programs to ensure the distribution of information regarding contract opportunities in their specific areas of expertise.

“The Napa Chamber is a strong supporter of doing business locally,” said Lisa Batto, President and CEO of the Napa Chamber of Commerce.  “We worked with the County of Napa and other stakeholders to encourage a local preference. We are proud to help facilitate this meeting to educate our community on local public works opportunities.”

For additional information about this event, please contact Juan Arias at (707) 259-8374 or at Juan.Arias@countyofnapa.org.

The Board of Supervisors and staff of Napa County are dedicated to preserving and sustaining Napa County for present and future generations as a community with generous open space, a thriving agricultural industry and a quality human and natural environment.
