Extended deadline to comment on the Syar Napa Quarry Draft EIR
Interested parties now have until 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 5 to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) analyzing the potential environmental impacts of a proposed project at the Syar Napa Quarry near Napa State Hospital. The project would expand the existing quarry and allow mining to continue for 35 years, with a deeper mining depth and an increase in production.

Supervisors will meet with St Helena City Council on Tuesday
Groundwater and transportation are on the agenda for Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m., when the two elected bodies will meet jointly in St. Helena. NCTPA Executive Director Kate Miller will present on Measure T and regional transportation needs.

Safely dispose of medications and sharps on Oct. 26
Gather your expired or unwanted pharmaceuticals and used medical sharps (needles) and on Saturday, Oct. 26, you can safely and anonymously dispose of them at one of four sites in Napa County. (If you have sharps, you must bring those to the site at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center). Safer for the environment, safer for your family!

Help us update the Housing Element, in person or online
The public is invited to attend one or both of two upcoming workshops, intended to collect input into the update of the County's Housing Element of its General Plan. We'll meet on Oct. 28 in Napa and Nov. 6 in St. Helena. If you can't attend, give us your input online!

Agricultural Commissioner-Sealer of Weights and Measures Dave Whitmer was awarded the first-ever “Special Achievement - Manager Award” by CACASA, the California Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers Association, at its Board of Directors’ General Assembly in Sacramento this month. He won for a lot of reasons, but one accomplishment in particular really stood out.

Secured property tax bills are in the mail
If you don't receive your secured property tax bill by Oct. 31, be sure to call Treasurer-Tax Collector office so they can issue you a duplicate. The first installment of 2013-2014 taxes is due and payable on Nov. 1, 2013, and will become delinquent if not paid by 5 p.m. on Dec.10, 2013

Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22
On the agenda: Proclamations declaring October 2013 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Nov. 4 through 9 as "California Flood Preparedness Week," and Oct. 24 as "Food Day" in Napa County; Registrar of Voters to discuss processes and procedures involved in post-election night ballot processing and reporting of results and other topics; requested actions regarding the 1986 Airport Industrial Area Specific Plan and associated zoning; appointments to the North Bay Water Reuse Authority Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Committee; appointment to the Napa County Local Food Advisory Council; resolution approving an MOU with a variety of agencies supporting the control and minimizing of the population of quagga and zebra mussels in North Bay and North Coast area waterways; recess at 5 p.m. to a joint meeting with the St. Helena City Council; and closed session re: anticipated litigation; plus consent items.
