Defaulted Secured reminders mailed

In mid-July 2010, the Treasurer-Tax Collector's office will mail approximately 2,100 delinquent tax notices to taxpayers who currently have prior-year secured taxes owing.  Each parcel of land having unpaid tax on June 30, 2010, became tax defaulted.  If all prior taxes are not paid within five years of the date of the default, the Tax Collector is required by law to record a notice of power to sell tax defaulted property and then property will be subject to sale at public auction.  For information on redemption procedures and amounts, or to initiate a five-year pay plan of redemption, please contact tax staff at the Treasurer-Tax Collector's office.  The phone number is 253-4312; office hours are 8 AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday.
