On April 28, 2010, hundreds of Napa County local food enthusiasts gathered together in the first countywide discussion of how to distribute fresh, locally grown food to our residents. Here you will find session notes, contact information and more.

event at Trefethen Family Vineyards (Aug 18, 2010):
I was amazed and excited by the enthusiasticturn-out for the event and the positive energy that was created by bringing our community together around these important issues. Together, we have embarked upon a journey to pursue a local sustainable food system and I am excited by the possibilities that lay before us: a healthier community, a healthier economy and a healthier local fresh and nutritious diet!
Napa County is indeed a special place because of its intensely diverse and rich agricultural soils; its perfect Mediterranean climate; but perhaps most importantly, its citizens who, like you, make such a difference in the life of our community!
The group responsible for planning the Napa Local Food Forum has since met and we’ve begun to review and prioritize what our next steps will be. On June 15th at 11:00 am, I plan to provide the
Board of Supervisors with an update on the success of the event. I will also review the opportunities and challenges identified during the Town Hall discussion so the community can continue to move forward in realizing our shared vision of a sustainable local food system.
With sincere thanks, appreciation and best wishes that our shared community vision may become a reality,
David R. Whitmer Agricultural Commissioner
