Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley issued the following press release at 11:45 am:
On April 5, 2017, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office released a statement regarding an officer involved shooting that occurred in the area of Linda Vista Avenue and Roberto Street in the City of Napa.
In sum, on April 4, 2017, at approximately 1:54 p.m., residents in the 2300 block of Bueno Street in the City of Napa called the Napa Police Department to report that a man with a gun was shooting at neighbors. Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter to contain the situation. While doing this, the man drove out of his garage in a car and into the street. As the driver fled, he began firing at officers and crashed into a tree on Linda Vista Avenue and Roberto Street.
Officers attempted to contain the vehicle by setting up a perimeter and were attempting to communicate with the driver and sole occupant. A short time later, the occupant fired a gun at officers and the officers returned fire. Multiple officers from the Napa Police Department and Napa Sheriff’s Department were involved in the incident. The driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene and was later identified as Stephen Connard Ferry, age 65.
Today we are releasing the names of the involved law enforcement personnel. They are Napa Police Department Sergeant Ryan Cole, Napa Police Department Officer Adam Davis, Napa Police Department Detective Dominic DeGuilio, Napa Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Kyle Eddleman, Napa Police Department Officer Jeff Hansen, Napa Police Department Officer Nathan Kistner, Napa Police Department Officer Eric Koford, Napa Sheriff’s Department Deputy Matthew Macomber, Napa Police Department Officer Michael Moore, Napa Police Department Detective Pete Piersig, Napa Police Department Corporal Keri Sedgley, Napa Police Department Officer Lucas Stalker, and Napa Police Department Officer Garrett Wade. The experience of the involved officers ranged from over 20 years of law enforcement employment to two officers still in the field training program being supervised by their field training officers.
