 Training Calendar: Napa County Resource Family Approval Program

Caregivers must receive a minimum of 12 hours of Pre-Approval Training (not including CPR/First Aid) to successfully complete the Resource Family Approval (RFA) Process. Once approved, caregivers must receive a minimum of 8 hours of Post-Approval Training (also known as annual training) and maintain their CPR/First Aid certification. Training topics shall include, for example:

  • Permanency
  • Overview of Foster Care & Probation Systems
  • Role of Resource Family
  • Child/Adolescent Development
  • Birth Parent Relationships
  • Personal Rights of Foster/Probation Youth
  •  
  • Cultural Competency
  • Health Issues of Foster/Probation Youth & NMDs
  • Education Advocacy
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Trauma Informed Care & Attachment
  • Psychotropic Medication
  • Independent Living
  •  

    Training Schedule

    All trainings are 5:30pm-8:30pm at Napa County Health & Human Services 2751 Napa Valley Corporate Dr., Building B. Napa, CA. Dinner is provided.
    All interested applicants must attend the Foster/Resource Parent Orientation prior to starting training. Please call (707) 253-4765 to RSVP.
