Napa River & Creek Flood Project

Passed by two-thirds of Napa County voters in 1998, the Project provides environmental restoration and economic development by incorporating the following engineered components to achieve 100-year flood protection while maintaining the living river principles:

  • Lowering of old dikes
  • Marsh plain and floodplain terraces
  • Oxbow dry bypass
  • Napa Creek floodplain terrace
  • Upstream and downstream dry bypass culverts along Napa Creek
  • New dikes, levees, and floodwalls
  • Bank stabilization and protection (including a grade control structure)
  • Pump stations and detention facilities
  • Bridge replacements
