Victim Response / Feelings

Because domestic violence is a crime involving a partner, spouse, or significant other, a variety of feelings may be experienced, including:

  • Anger
  • Denial
  • Fear
  • Hopelessness
  • Hurt
  • Shock

Many of these same feelings are experienced by a victim who has been raped or sexually abused.

Victim / Witness Assistance can provide information about the criminal justice system, and the status of a specific case. Referrals to confidential programs and crime prevention information is also available.

Specialized Services for Victims of Domestic Violence

  • Preparation of Criminal Protective Orders
  • Support during interviews with the Deputy District Attorney
  • Support during Child Abuse Interviews (CAIT)

Services for victims of sexual assault are provided by Napa Emergency Women's Services (NEWS).
