European Grapevine Moth Has Been Eradicated!

The European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) quarantine is officially lifted from Napa County and California!  The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the California Department of Agriculture (CDFA) announced the moth's eradication status on August 18, 2016.  Movement of all quarantined articles, including fruit and green-waste is no longer regulated, with the exception of material moving out of the country.  All associated EGVM compliance agreements are rescinded.  Growers, harvesters, haulers and wineries are relieved of all regulatory requirements outlined in their compliance agreements.

The eradication program, which relied heavily on sustainable pest eradication practices, began in 2010.  The collaborative efforts of wine grape growers, wineries, regulatory officials at the local, state and federal levels, hobby vineyards, University of California scientists as well as international experts all played a vital role in that success. Congratulations to all!
