Birth, Death, & Marriage Certificates
Processing time for vital records may take two to three business days to process.
For certified copies of birth, death or marriage certificates please fill out the associated application (PDF). A notarized sworn statement must be included with your application.
Napa County is also asking the public to use online and mail to transact business during this public health emergency. Order Vital Records
You can obtain certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates either in person, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. except legal holidays, or by submitting an application and notarized sworn statement by mail with a check or money order, or by ordering online with a credit card and faxing the notarized sworn statement.
- We can only provide copies of certificates for births and deaths that occurred in Napa County.
- We can only provide copies of marriage certificates if the license was issued by Napa County.

We do not accept out-of-state checks. We do accept cashier's checks, money orders and travelers' checks.
Credit Card & Online Orders Through VitalChek
You may use your Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card to order by mail or by phone. Please give the name of the credit card company, the complete credit card number, the expiration date and be sure to have the person in whose name the card is issued sign the request. A $7 processing fee will be added to all credit card transactions.
The County of Napa does not accept credit cards or online orders; however, for your convenience, you can process online requests through an independent company that we have partnered with to provide you this service; VitalChek Network, Inc. An additional fee is charged by VitalChek for using this service, and all major credit cards are accepted, including American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard® or Visa®.
