Mission Statement

The Napa County Sheriff's Office is committed to providing the highest level of professional services to our community, while fostering partnerships based on trust and respect.

Core Values

The members of the Napa County Sheriff's Office are dedicated to preserving and defending our core values.  These values include obedience to the Constitution of the United States, uncompromising personal and professional integrity, compassion, fairness, and respect for the dignity of those we protect.

Administration

The Administration Division of the Napa Sheriff's Office is charged with overall management of personnel and fiscal resources. The Division consists of:

  • The Sheriff
  • The Undersheriff
  • Three Captains
  • Five Lieutenants
  • Sheriff's Administrative Manager
  • Assistant to the Sheriff

Captain Responsibilities

The Sheriff's Office is organized into two primary Divisions, Services and Operations, each led by a Captain.  The third captain is assigned to the City of American Canyon Police Department and acts as their Chief of Police via a contract.  Their overall responsibilities include:

  • Budgeting
  • Governmental Liaison
  • Personnel Management
  • Planning
  • Scheduling

Lieutenant Responsibilities

Lieutenants are generally responsible for the management of one or more bureaus or units within the Sheriff's Office.  The current Lieutenant responsibilities are:

  • Administration
  • Uniformed Patrol
  • Services
  • Investigations
  • Court Services/Jail Liaison 

Sheriff's Administrative Manager Responsibilities

The Sheriff's Administrative Manager is responsible for the budgeting process and fiscal planning. Additionally the  Sheriff's Administrative Manager acts as the custodian of personnel records and deals with legal motions seeking confidential file disclosures.

Assistant to the Sheriff Responsibilities

The Assistant to the Sheriff provides clerical support to the Sheriff and his staff.
