City of American Canyon
American Canyon is located at the southern end of Napa County. Originally the area was known as Napa Junction, reflecting the various rail lines that converged at the north end of town. American Canyon incorporated in 1992, and currently relies on a strong property and sales tax base, combined with an industrial park and potential tourist-related retail.
The population is approximately 20,000.
Staff
The City of American Canyon contracts for police services with the Napa County Sheriff's Office, which currently provide 19 deputies, 4 sergeants, 2 police technicians and 1 captain, who acts as Chief of Police for law enforcement services. Two of the Officers are assigned to traffic enforcement, two are K-9 handlers, two are assigned to the schools, and one is a community resource Officer.
Emergency Service, Community Policing & Policies
The American Canyon Police Department focuses on community-based policing and traffic enforcement. The Police Headquarters is located at 911 Donaldson Way (East). We provide DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) presentations for American Canyon Schools. The American Canyon Fire Protection District provides fire and emergency medical services to businesses and residents. American Medical Response (AMR), Ambulance Service has a sub-station located in the City.
Service Support
American Canyon has a minimum of three officers on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the event that a situation arises requiring more than the officers working in American Canyon, Sheriff's Office Patrol deputies will respond for mutual aid. The Sheriff's Office also provides support for:
- Crime Scene and Lab Processing
- Extensive Investigations
- Major Crimes
- Recruitment and Hiring Involved (When Assigning Officers to the City of American Canyon)
- Tactical Situations
Town of Yountville
The Town of Yountville is located in the heart of Napa Valley, approximately eight miles north of the City of Napa, on State Route 29. The town’s resident population is approximately 4,000 and includes the members of the California Veteran's Home of Yountville. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services under contract with the Town of Yountville, which it has since it incorporated in February 1965.
Staff
There are presently three (3) deputies, one (1) sergeant, and a senior volunteer assigned to the Town of Yountville. These dedicated professionals receive support from the Napa Sheriff's Office to provide a full spectrum of municipal law enforcement services. This additional support includes:

- Disaster Response Management and Training
- Dispatch Services
- Equipment and Vehicle Issue and Maintenance
- Hazardous Devise Mitigation
- Investigative Services (Major Crimes and Accidents)

The Town of Yountville provides great working conditions for Sheriff's Office personnel because the community and the Sheriff's Office work together in a partnership to deliver effective law enforcement services town residents and guests.
