Programs & Services
For youth who remain in our facility, a number of Programs and Services are provided during their temporary stay which includes:
Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
In order to meet the needs of our youth and provide them with proper services, we as a department work collaboratively with the MDT. The MDT consists of members of Juvenile Probation, Mental Health, Medical and staff members of the facility in order to develop an individualized plan and treatment.
Behavioral Management System (BMS)
This system is designed to foster personal responsibility.
Mental Health - Our facility provides Mental Health Counselors seven days a week. They are hear to provide additional support to our youth who suffer from depression, suicidal ideation and crisis intervention as needed. Shortly after being booked into the facility, each youth undergo an assessment which is conducted by our Mental Health Counselors.
Peer Mentor Program
this program provides an opportunity for youth to assist their peers with program rules and problem solving, assist staff with housekeeping chores and to help the youth develop personal growth. The youth must apply for the program and undergo an interview which is conducted by the Supervision Team. In order for a youth to apply for the program they must maintain a Group Level 1 or 2 and maintain good behavior.
Garden Program
this program provides a teaching an learning environment. The youth learn principles and practices of gardening that can enrich the rest of their lives. They learn the value of shared hard work and benefit from the products of their labor.
Thinking For a Change (T4C)
T4C is a program that concentrates on changing the criminogenic thinking of our youth. T4C is a cognitive-behavioral therapy program that includes cognitive restructuring, social skills development and the development of problem-solving skills. The program confronts thought patterns that can lead to problematic behaviors through role play, lesson plans and problem solving.
Gang Awareness
This is an intervention program that works with youth who are at risk of gang involvement or who are presently active in gangs.
