The Public Defender provides legal representation for adults and juveniles who are charged with criminal offenses and otherwise unable to afford counsel.
The Public Defender protects the constitutional rights of Napa residents in general and specifically protects the rights of clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies in Napa County.
The Public Defender staffs juvenile and adult drug courts and represents those subject to involuntary mental health commitment petitions, probate conservatees and patients housed at Napa State Hospital who need medical treatment.
