Programs

Enriching Children

SAL’s programs are offered during after-school hours when many children are left unsupervised or with nothing inspiring to do. Studies have shown these are the peak hours for juveniles to commit crimes, become victims of crimes, and engage in other unsafe behaviors.

Participation

Participation in any SAL program requires a parent-signed information packet and waiver. To enroll, simply pick up and submit the form at the SAL fitness center.

Free & Challenging Activities

Due to the size of our staff and facility, as well as the nature of the activities offered, our programs are designed to provide self-motivated youth with positive alternative activities at no cost. We are not an after school, “hangout,” day-care provider, or social rehab center, although we can refer children to other local organizations that better suit those needs, if requested.

All of our current programs are fitness based, focused on developing strength, flexibility, and stamina, and providing improved physical health as well as mental health. Coached by volunteers, our recreational sports programs provide not only improved fitness, but also seek to instill values of:

  • Trustworthiness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Fairness
  • Caring
  • Good Citizenship

Our most demanding programs, which are competitive in nature, are intended to instill in athletes the Olympic ideals of:

  • Vision
  • Commitment
  • Focus
  • Discipline
  • Persistence
