The Zoning Administrator (ZA) hears and decides on a broad range of minor planning permit applications over which it has authority (see County Code Section 18.10.020 - Duties – Specific Subjects), unless the ZA determines that the public interest would be furthered by having a particular application heard and decided by the Planning Commission. The Director of the Planning, Building and Environmental Services Department is appointed to serve as the ZA, and may appoint a Deputy ZA to perform the duties of the ZA.
