General Information:
Annually, the Sheriff Civil Division conducts an escheatment process for Civil Process unclaimed monies per Government Code Section 50050-50057.
Escheated Funds Information:
Annually, the Sheriff Civil Process Division reviews a listing of monies, which have remained unclaimed for over three years from each County Department and Agency. The Government Code section 50050-50057 provides that unclaimed monies, which remain in official custody of the officers of a local agency for a period of over three (3) years, become the property of the agency. Individual items $15.00 or more in value must be published as notification that the money will become the property of the County on a designated date if it is left unclaimed.

To file a claim for these funds contact the Napa Sheriff’s Office Civil Division at 1535 Airport Blvd, Napa CA 94559 or by calling 707-253-4325. A party of interest may file a claim with the Sheriff Civil Division, which must include the claimant’s name, address, amount of claim, the grounds on which the claim is founded, and any other information that may be required on a Sheriff Civil claim application. The claim shall be filed before the date the unclaimed money becomes the property of the local agency as provided under Section 50051 GC. Your claim must be made within forty-five days of this publication. Failure to file your claim will result in those funds being transferred to a government account and you will no longer have a claim to this money.
