Spay/Neuter Voucher Program

Spaying and neutering is the best defense against unwanted litters, which then prevents additional animals from entering the shelter system. Spaying and neutering can also eliminate mating related nuisance behaviors such as roaming, vocalizing and even aggression. Medical conditions such as pyometra (infection of the uterus) and many reproductive cancers are non-existent when animals are sterilized. However, due to the rising costs of veterinary care, finding affordable spay/neuter for your pet can be challenging. Thankfully, the Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center offers spay/neuter vouchers for Napa County residents. The vouchers cover the cost of any dog, cat, rabbit and feral cat spay/neuter done at the Napa Humane Spay/Neuter Clinic (707-252-7442) located at 3265 California Blvd. in Napa, 94558.

Our spay/neuter vouchers are funded through our dog license program so a percentage of every 1-3 year dog license fee goes to fund these vouchers! Vouchers are good for two months and are only redeemable at the Napa Humane Spay/Neuter Clinic. While Napa Humane already offers low cost spay/neuter (fees can be found at the Napa Humane website), if you still need a voucher all you have to do is call us at 707-253-4382 to make an appointment and we will be happy to help you. All we require is the following:

• Provide a driver’s license or utility bill confirming Napa County residency
• Your telephone number
• Name and information of your pet that you wish to be spayed/neutered

To ensure that we have enough funds for the entire year, we limit two vouchers per household within Napa County.

What if I can’t use the voucher by the expiration date?

Call 707-253-4382 and tell us the voucher number that cannot be used and the voucher will become void. The funds will be redistributed so that another pet owner or feral cat advocate can receive assistance. If still needed, a new voucher may be re-issued at that time.
