Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Groundwater Monitoring

Napa County has a Groundwater Self-Monitoring Program. This DIY program offers training and a special Solinst measuring device to determine the depth to water in most wells.  

To borrow the tool from the County:  

  1. Review the "Waiver and Release of Liability for Well Measurement Equipment".
  2. Send an email to [email protected] indicating your interest in the DIY program and attach the signed liability waiver. 
  3. Once the waiver is received, Napa County staff will set up a time to demonstrate the equipment at your well and help with the initial measurement. 
  4. You can then borrow the equipment seasonally to measure your water level.
