Project Scope

The proposed project consists 2022 annual guardrail repair, the County plans to repair about 26 damaged guardrails located on various streets within the limit of Napa County.  The existing guardrails are metal beam guardrails (MBGR) or Midwest Guardrail Systems (MGS) on wood or metal posts.  Where feasible, the proposed repair will replace the damaged guardrails to the current 2018 Caltrans Standards including Caltrans approved (MASH compliant) end treatments.

The Project shall include but not be limited to all labor and materials for the following safety enhancement components for Napa County: guardrails, delineators, installation of new wood posts and wood blocks for guardrail, new terminal end treatments, and new guardrail beams.

Coordination with Napa County Roads Department for Shoulder Backing Installation of Guardrail System

All construction activities, including staging, shall occur within the County right of way.

Per the project specifications, the contractor will be responsible to notify all adjoining property owners of the work schedule and make accommodation where deemed necessary.

Traffic control will be conducted per CAMUTCD standards and these special provisions:

Limit lane closures to 7:00 am to 5:00 pm with prior approval from the County

One lane must be kept open at all time.

Only one stationary lane closure at a time.

Flaggers must be stationed at both ends of the closure.

Access to private property must be provided at all times.

Engineer Estimate: $380,000 base bid, $495,000 Base plus Additive Alternate.  The Contractor shall possess a Class A, C-13, or C-32 License at the time of contract award.
