[ARCHIVED] Supervisor Ramos Elected VP of the Association of Bay Area Governments

Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin elected president of ABAG

NAPA, CA— Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos has been elected vice president of the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) along with Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin, who was elected president. Both will assume their new leadership positions in January, and will serve two-year terms. 

“What an honor it is to be elected alongside Jesse Arreguin by our Bay Area peers to lead such an important organization as ABAG,” said Ramos, who represents District 5 encompassing American Canyon, portions of the city of Napa and the County’s industrial area. “The New Year will bring new opportunities for regional cooperation and political problem solving, and I look forward to being a part of the consensus building that ABAG fosters for the entire Bay Area.” 

Ramos was elected to the Napa County Board of Supervisors in 2016 and previously served on the American Canyon City Council from 2012 to 2016. She graduated from Saint Mary's College of California in 1999 and UC Hastings College of the Law in 2004. Born in Napa and raised in St. Helena and Pope Valley, Ramos resides in American Canyon with her three children.

She has been active locally and regionally by serving on a wide range of committees and boards, including the Napa Valley Transportation Authority, Napa County Fire Services Advisory Committee, Napa County Local Food Advisory Board, Emergency Medical Care Committee, Napa County Fire Services Advisory Committee, Airport Industrial Area Subcommittee. 

Regionally, Ramos has served on the Association of Bay Area Governments, North Bay Water Reuse Authority, SR 37 Policy Committee, Latino Caucus of California Counties, North Bay Watershed Association, San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission, and Rebuild Northbay Foundation. 

Founded in 1961, ABAG is the regional planning agency for the Bay Area’s nine counties and 101 cities and towns, and is recognized as the first council of governments in California.
