The General Public should continue to comply with the Shelter-At-Home Order and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet when out seeking essential services or getting fresh air or exercise.

El condado de Napa ha emitido una orden legal para que el paciente se aísle y los contactos cercanos del paciente se pongan en cuarentena. El público en general debe seguir cumpliendo con la orden de refugio en el hogar y de seguir practicando el distanciamiento social de al menos 6 pies cuando busca servicios esenciales o toma aire fresco o hace ejercicio.
(NAPA, CALIF.) Napa County Public Health Officials are conducting their investigation. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect identity, further information about this case will not be released at this time. The County will provide general updates when and as appropriate. The patient is in isolation.
“This is Napa County’s first case and evidence that COVID-19 is in our community,” said Dr. Karen Relucio, Napa County’s Public Health Officer. “I understand this may be concerning to the community, but this is why I, and the State of California, have issued Shelter-At-Home orders to slow the spread of illness and not overwhelm the local health care system. It is imperative that the local community comply with these orders.”
Since the disease is here, an important priority for Napa County will be to conduct community surveillance to determine the extent of local transmission and quickly evaluate what is happening in our community.
Symptoms of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Typically, human coronaviruses cause mild-to-moderate respiratory illness. Symptoms are very similar to the flu, including runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, fever, and/or shortness of breath. Older adults and people with underlying health conditions may be at increased risk for severe disease.
Patients that develop a fever and lower respiratory symptoms, such as a cough or shortness of breath, should first call their health care provider and share symptoms before visiting the clinic or emergency room. If you are currently uninsured, Covered California has opened a special enrollment period due to COVID-19. Healthcare providers should call Napa County Public Health immediately.
Tips to Protect Yourself and Others
- No additional precautions are recommended at this time beyond the simple daily precautions that everyone should always take, such as:
- Washing hands with liquid soap and water, and rubbing for at least 20 seconds;
- Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing; and
- Staying home if you are sick.
Since flu activity will continue to remain high during this flu season, and symptoms of coronavirus are similar to the flu, Napa County Public Health also recommends getting a flu shot to protect yourself and others from the flu.
