All county residents are invited to participate in the Napa County Summer Library Adventure. This year’s theme is “Dig Deeper, Read!” The community is invited to read, discover new books and materials, and participate in virtual events hosted by the library. The reading program is a project of the California Library Association, supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Online registration is currently underway and runs through August 31. There is no charge to participate or to check out library materials that are available for curbside pick-up. Participants should be aware that due to the State’s current COVID-19 restrictions, public access to library facilities are not allowed at this time. Napa County’s 2020 Summer Library Adventure will be conducted virtually until further notice.
The summer library program is designed to cultivate the enjoyment of books, reading, and using library resources. Studies have shown that school-age children who read and keep their brains active during the summer enter school in the fall ready to learn and succeed. Library staff has planned an array of exciting events, activities and prizes that will help to keep school-age children, along with infants, teens and adults, engaged in reading activities all summer long.
Participants can track their time (online or on a paper reading log), spent engaging in reading and other virtual library activities, without counting the number of books read. Paper logs can be mailed upon request by calling (707) 253-4241. A schedule of activities and storytimes will be posted online weekly.
