[ARCHIVED] Napa County Announces New Director of Human Resources

Christine Briceño, Director of Human Resources for Napa CountyNapa, CA - The County of Napa has hired Christine Briceño to serve as its next Director of Human Resources beginning April 5, 2021. The Director of Human Resources position is tasked with helping support over 1400 County employees and the various labor organizations that represent them. The position is being filled behind Karen Taylor who retired in December of 2020.

"Christine brings her extensive public service experience to Napa County from her time working at the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), where she was the Director of the Member and Employer Services Division,” said Napa County CEO Minh Tran. “She has served as our Assistant Director of HR since August of 2019 and has already proven herself to be a collaborative leader. I look forward to continue working with her in her new role.”

Christine began her career in Benefit Administration at the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), where she held various administrative and leadership positions for over 17 years before going to work for CalSTRS. While at CalSTRS, she was responsible for the statewide administration of compensation reporting for the over 1400 California school districts and its 949,000 members and benefit recipients prior to coming to Napa County. She has been acting as the County’s interim Director of Human Resources since January 2021.

“I am honored to continue my commitment to Napa County by furthering our efforts to attract and retain high-quality talent who provide critical services so vital to our community,” said Christine.
