[ARCHIVED] Public Invited to Observe All Phases of June 7, 2022 Statewide Primary Election

The Napa County Election Division invites the public, the media, members of the Grand Jury, political party organizations and anyone interested in the election process to observe all aspects of the June 7, 2022 Statewide Primary Election.  All processing and counting will take place at the Napa County Election Division 1127 1st St Ste E Napa CA 94559.  20 minute parking is available on the top floor of the 2nd St Parking garage with direct entry to our offices from the garage.  Observers must sign in and observe COVID 19 protocols including wearing a face covering.   If necessary, observers may be scheduled at different times to maintain voter and staff safety.

“We welcome observers to this fundamental cornerstone of our democratic process,” announced Napa County Registrar of Voters John Tuteur, “Those who wish to observe the election should contact us 24 hours in advance so that we can facilitate the observation process. Logic and accuracy testing of the ballot tabulation equipment begins on Thursday May 5, 2022 at 8:30 a.m.  Vote-by- mail ballot processing will begin Thursday June 2, 2022 at 8:30 a.m.   Counting of ballots processed through Friday, June 3, 2022 will begin 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022 and continue through Election Day Tuesday, June 7, 2022.   Results from processed vote-by-mail ballots are available shortly after 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 7, 2022.  Counting will resume on Friday June 10, 2022 and continue Monday June 13, Tuesday June 14 and Wednesday June 15, 2022 at which point 95% of all ballots will have been counted.

The random draw for the 1% manual tally precincts required under the California Election Code will be done at 10 a.m. on Wednesday June 8, 2022.   The 1% manual tally will begin on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. and continue until certification of the election.   Pursuant to California election law, the Registrar of Voters has 30 days after the election to certify the election results.

Observers are also welcome at any of our vote centers beginning Saturday May 28, 2022 at the Holiday Inn Express in American Canyon at 8:30 a.m. and then Saturday June 4, 2022  at 8:30 a.m. at the other vote centers,
