[ARCHIVED] Holly Dawson Appointed Deputy County Executive Officer – Communications for County of Napa

NAPA, CA, DECEMBER 2, 2022 – The County of Napa has appointed Holly Dawson as the County’s Deputy County Executive Officer (CEO) – Communications, announced David Morrison, the County’s Interim CEO. In the new role, Dawson will be responsible for managing Napa County’s overall community and intergovernmental communications strategy and helping to advance federal, state, and local legislative priorities. 

“Holly brings a wealth of experience to this important leadership position,” said Morrison. “Not only does she have extensive experience leading communications efforts, Holly has lived in this community for more than 20 years. We are excited to have her lead the crucial work of developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for the County.”

Most recently, Dawson served as director, public affairs and communications for Napa Valley College, where she oversaw communications and legislative affairs and served as the public information officer. Prior to that, she served as executive director of Leadership Napa Valley, a program focused on strengthening our community by developing, involving, inspiring and informing current and future leaders in Napa County.

Holly moved to Napa in 2000 to serve as the opening marketing director for Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, and started a consulting business in Napa in 2009. As a consultant, Dawson served a number of business, nonprofit and public sector clients in Napa County, including Arts Council Napa Valley, City of Napa, Connolly Ranch, First 5 Napa County, Land Trust of Napa County, Napa Chamber of Commerce, Napa Valley College Foundation, Napa Learns, Oxbow Public Market, Queen of the Valley Medical Foundation, and Sustainable Napa County.

Dawson’s professional background includes six years as director, corporate communications and community affairs for KQED public television and radio; and several years as a senior aide to an elected official in San Francisco, providing broad experience in working and communicating with a variety of constituencies. She lives in Napa County with her husband and daughter.
