[ARCHIVED] Medi-Cal soon to resume pre-pandemic renewal process

Napa, CA (March 16, 2023) - Napa County residents on Medi-Cal will soon need to renew their plan coverage as the state is set to resume its pre-pandemic processes to redetermine Medi-Cal coverage eligibility starting April 1, 2023. During the COVID-19 public health emergency, Medi-Cal beneficiaries automatically stayed enrolled in Medi-Cal to ensure health coverage. It is important that Napa residents who remain eligible keep their Medi-Cal coverage.

Medi-Cal covers vital health care services for individuals and families, including doctor visits, prescriptions, vaccinations, and mental health care. In Napa County, over 35,600 individuals receive Medi-Cal. The program provides health coverage for children and their parents with low incomes, pregnant women, seniors, and people living with disabilities. Maintaining health coverage is critical to ensure residents can continue accessing the care they need.

It’s important for Medi-Cal recipients to confirm the county has their current contact information. Contacts can be updated online at or by calling the Self Sufficiency Services Division of the Health and Human Services Agency at (707) 253-4511. Starting in April, the county will begin mailing letters to Medi-Cal members to complete the Medi-Cal redetermination process. In some cases, Medi-Cal members may receive a letter to notify of automatic renewal. If Medi-Cal redetermination-related documents are requested, you can submit them 1) online at, 2) by calling (707) 253-4511, or 3) by coming in-person to one of the following locations: 2751 Napa Valley Corporate Drive, Building A, in Napa, 4381 Broadway, Suite 101 in American Canyon, or 1705 Washington Street in Calistoga.

For questions, please call the Napa County Health and Human Services Agency at (707) 253-4511 or visit Self Sufficiency Services.
