Napa County Board of Supervisors Passes ‘Safe Firearm Storage’ Ordinance

NAPA COUNTY – The Napa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the adoption of a the ‘Safe Firearm Storage’ ordinance, adding Chapter 9.20 to Title 9 to the Napa County Code. The ordinance, which restricts residents from keeping firearms in their homes unless they are stored in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock, is consistent with similar ordinances adopted locally over the past year.

“Securely securing firearms not only reduces the risk of accidents or fatalities but also serves as a deterrent against theft,” stated Napa County Board of Supervisors Chair Belia Ramos. “The passage of this ordinance underscores our collective commitment to protecting some of our community’s most vulnerable members, including children and individuals experiencing suicidal impulses.”

The ‘Safe Firearm Storage’ ordinance takes effect on November 9, 2023.
