Napa County - The Napa County Auditor-Controller’s Office has been recognized for excellence in financial reporting and transparency by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and the California State Controller’s Office.
GFOA awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to County of Napa for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022. The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is Napa County’s 18th year receiving this international award.
In addition to recognition by the GFOA, the Auditor-Controller’s office was also honored with the State Controller’s Award for County Financial Transactions Reporting. California State Controller Malia M. Cohen thanked Napa County for its contribution to the quality and transparency of public finances, “Napa County’s excellence in reporting helps my team produce accurate and useful local government financial data, which is relied upon by policymakers, researchers and constituents throughout California.” This is Napa County’s 23rd year receiving this state award.
“I take great pride in the work accomplished by our dedicated team on behalf of the taxpayers,” said Tracy A. Schulze, Napa County’s elected auditor-controller. “Our objective is to uphold the financial integrity of the County by ensuring effective oversight through accurate financial reporting and solid internal controls. This recognition strengthens our ongoing dedication to the citizens of Napa County, and we are privileged to persist in delivering these essential services to our community.”
